Dr. John L. Lockett was the Director of the School of Agriculture and a Professor of Agronomy at Virginia State College for Negroes.

Life and Education

Dr. John L. Lockett received his B.S. in Agronomy in 1923 and his M.S. in Agronomy in 1928 from Iowa State College. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University. His research area was soil science.

Dr. Lockett became the Director of the School of Agriculture and a professor of Agronomy at Virginia State College for Negroes. He stepped down as Director in 1963 but remained a professor.

There is currently a building named after him at Virginia State University.
